Your Wedding Experience

It's all about you

Firstly, and most importantly, the day is about you two sharing your love for each other with the people who matter most to you. Your enjoyment of the day is the priority, and that’s something I’m 100% on board with. Capturing photographs of loved-up people is what it’s all about.

We live in a world of curated social media, which may give the impression that a wedding day is filled with elaborate photo shoots that last for hours. While this may be the case with some wedding photographers, it’s really not my style.

It’s all about balance. Your enjoyment of the day comes first, and my role is to support and enhance this by capturing photographs at the right times and in the right way.

BEFORE THE WEDDING DAY

Before a wedding, I’m always on hand to chat and discuss the day with you. It’s your wedding and your photographs, so it’s important that you feel connected to your photographer.

A couple of months before the big day, you’ll receive an in-depth questionnaire to fill in. I’ll review the plan and make any suggestions that could enhance both your day and the photography.

The questionnaire includes a simple template for the family lineup photos. This is an easy way to get the ball rolling. I typically suggest around 8-12 photos for this part of the day. 8-12 photos can usually be captured in about 15 minutes, which keeps things comfortable for everyone.

Spending more time on those lineup photos means less time having fun and capturing the “wow” shots.

Once we’ve arranged all the details, it’s over to me. You can relax.

ON THE WEDDING DAY

The coverage is designed to be as natural as possible, allowing you to truly enjoy your wedding. Then, we have little bursts of photos to capture those great moments—confetti, sparklers, champagne sprays—all the good stuff.
My number one priority is for you to have fun. When you’re having a good time, the rest just falls into place. Less time spent standing around for family line-ups means more time to party.

GETTING READY

On the morning of your wedding, I arrive nice and early to capture preparation photos. For male/female couples, most of the action tends to be on the girls’ side. It’s always lively and very visual, so the camera is naturally drawn to that.

We’ll work out a rough time for when the suits are being put on, and that’s when we’ll capture shots with the boys.

Essentially, it’s all about cracking on and having fun for you guys. The photography sits comfortably within it all, and you’re not expected to perform or pose in any way.

Timings are crucial at this stage of the day, and that’s something I can help and advise you on.

Here’s a little example…

If everything is happening at a single location with a ceremony at 1pm, I’d advise you to set your schedule so the bridesmaids put their dresses on at 11:30am and the bride at 11:45am.

This may seem a little early on paper, but in reality, it works perfectly. Firstly, it builds in a little buffer time, which removes any stress whatsoever.

It also allows time for gorgeous photos of you in your dress, as well as any “reveal” shots when everyone sees you for the first time. Add to that any final touch-ups and a chance to relax, maybe have a little drink together, and take in the moment with the people you love. It’d be a shame to feel rushed at that stage when it’s such a beautiful occasion.

It also gives me time to dash off to the ceremony to catch up with your other half.

THE I DO’S

Your wedding ceremony is thoroughly, tastefully, and discreetly documented. It’s a time when the focus should be entirely on the two of you.

You can decide whether you’re comfortable with guests taking photos during the ceremony. I’m pretty chilled about that sort of thing, but if I’m being completely honest, it can take away a bit of the sparkle from my images if there are lots of phones visible in the background.

Personally, I think it’s nice if guests can really be in the moment during the ceremony. There’s plenty of time throughout the day for phone photos.

JUST MARRIED!

The moments right after the wedding ceremony are AWESOME! Seeing you both being hugged and congratulated by all your family and friends is a beautiful thing. The last thing I want to do is interrupt those moments, so we let it all unfold and capture it on camera.

Around this time, we often create an epic confetti shot. That’s when I step in to arrange everyone and make it happen for you.

DRINKS RECEPTION & GROUP PHOTOGRAPHS

During the post-ceremony drinks reception, I’ll be there to document lots of natural moments as you mingle.

Roughly halfway through this section of the day, we can capture a few group shots. I’ll have a few copies of the list printed out to pass to the groomsmen, and they can help nudge the relevant people in our direction.

The emphasis is on capturing these family photos in a light, fun, and efficient manner, so you can get back to relaxing and socialising.

COUPLE'S PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHS

This tends to happen towards the end of the drinks reception, around the time guests are called in to be seated. It always takes a little while to get people moving, especially while they have a drink in their hands. This provides us with a 15 minute window to get some beautiful pics of the two of you.

When it’s time for your portraits, I’ll guide you through the entire process to ensure it’s relaxed and enjoyable. I understand that being in front of the camera can feel a bit intimidating, especially if you’ve never had professional photos taken before. But don’t worry—I’m here to make sure you feel at ease and confident. There’s no awkward posing or stiff smiles here; just natural moments that capture the love  between you. I’ll give just the right amount of direction to help you look and feel your best, without making it feel like a photo shoot.

The goal is to create beautiful portraits that reflect your connection, but still feel authentic to who you are. I’ll guide you but also give you plenty of space to relax and enjoy each other’s company. You won’t be rushed, and there will be time for you to take a breath, enjoy the moment, and let your personalities shine through.

At the end of the day, these portraits are all about capturing the unique energy and love you share. I’ll take care of all the details so you don’t have to worry about a thing. You’ll have gorgeous, timeless portraits to remember the day—images that reflect your relationship and your wedding, all while keeping the process simple, easy, and fun.

THE WEDDING BREAKFAST AND SPEECHES

Once we’ve captured those photographs of the two of you, guests will be seated, and you can be announced into the room. This creates a nice flow and maximises your time.

You can decide whether to have the speeches before or after the food. However, placing individual speeches between courses tends to stress the chefs out, so it’s not recommended.

During the speeches, I’m on hand to capture all the action—laughter, tears, and plenty of guest reactions.

I usually take a short break while you’re eating, but I’m always close by, constantly checking in to see what’s happening.

AFTER THE WEDDING BREAKFAST

After the food and speeches, everything unfolds very naturally, leading to lots more relaxed coverage of the day.

I often like to gather the bride and bridesmaids for a few more photos at this stage. By this time, everyone is relaxed and playful, so these often turn out to be some of the best shots of the day.

It’s also a great opportunity to capture more images of just the two of you. If the location allows, I like to venture a little further from the action to get those wider shots with more landscape. With a bit of luck, we might even catch a golden sunset to add the icing on the cake.

PARTY TIME

Finally, it’s time to party, usually kicked off by the two of you and your first dance. There are always a few of life’s natural party animals who can’t wait to get on the dance floor with you, so as soon as they get the green light, the fun begins.

I’m right there with you, capturing all the fun, and honestly, it’s my favourite part of the day. It’s amazing to soak up that atmosphere while also capturing it on camera.

And then, it’s time to say goodbye and leave you all to party the night away. Experience tells me when it’s the right time. There’s a definite sweet spot where everyone is lively, “happy drunk,” and still very photogenic.

I typically photograph weddings solo and this is more than adequate for most weddings. But if you do feel that a second photographer would be beneficial for your day, it can be arranged.

Second photographers typically cost between £500-£1000 depending on experience.

Extra Hours

The wedding packages I offer are based on the amount of time I'm with you on the day. It's all pretty flexible though so if you need to add an extra hour here or there it's no problem at all.

Don't worry if timings slip a little on the day too. That's just the reality of weddings and quite common. It's all about being there to capture those fantastic moments for you.

Albums & Prints

There's a store linked to your online gallery where you can purchase high end albums and prints. It's super user friendly and the quality is amazing. You also have the option to download and create prints yourselves. It's completely up to you.

For a little extra you get the special treatment and hop to the top of the editing queue. Everything is completed for you 10 days after the wedding. Strictly subject to availability. First come first served.

Meg & Adam

High Billinghurst Farm

I stumbled across Gary’s profile on Instagram and was utterly impressed by his talent- as a result we chose him for our wedding in February. Not only did we receive hundreds of photos that perfectly encapsulated the day, but he was an absolute pleasure to be around on the day itself. He made sure we were present throughout the whole wedding, and only took us off for what felt like a matter of minutes to capture our couples photos. All of which are beautiful! Thank you for being part of our special day and capturing it perfectly!

Frequently asked questions

Can we give you a shot list?

It’s all about balance. When you allow the day to play out naturally it creates the space for those once in a lifetime magical moments to happen. Adhering to an exhausting shot list stifles this and the photographs can look inauthentic and staged.

We do however work on a plan together and your likes, wishes and preferences are all taken into consideration and applied to the day. Think of it as more of a shared mood board than a shot list.

Will you visit our venue beforehand?

I may or may not have previously visited your venue. Either way its no issue at all. Lighting conditions and the weather change second by second so it doesn’t make sense to pre plan exactly where photographs will take place.

This is one of the many reasons to hire an experienced professional wedding photographer. It ensures that we capture the best from your day in all scenarios.

Do we need to feed you?

Yes please if you dont mind. I typically eat at the same time as you guys to ensure maximum photo coverage. Food is hugely appreciated and makes life so much easier on a long lively day.

Are you insured?

Absolutely yes. Occasionally your venue will ask to see documentation for this and I’m happy to supply anything you need for them.

Can we meet you before the wedding?

Yes. I recommend an initial Zoom chat to get to know each other. If you proceed with a wedding photo booking we then have another Zoom a month or two before your wedding date to catch up on plans.

What happens if you can't be there on the day?

The priority is your wedding. So in a situation where I was unable to attend, a comparable replacement would be provided to shoot on the day. The images would then be edited and delivered to you by me.
In the very very unlikely event that I couldn’t attend and a replacement couldn’t be found, you would receive a full refund. This situation is almost completely unheard of in the wedding world as we take the necessary precautions to ensure that you have your day captured in the best way possible.

We’re actually all members of secret online Facebook groups to provide emergency cover for each other if the worst happens.

We feel a little self conscious/nervous about being photographed all day?

Most couples feel this way to a degree but for 90% of the day you dont even notice it’s happening.

When it comes to just the two of you it’s all about you guys enjoying some time together and focusing on each other. No awkward posing. Just happy times captured as I guide you through some beautiful locations.

Do you deliver any black & white photographs?

I always deliver some black & white pics and this comes down to artistic choice. If I feel that an image will work well in black & white you receive that pic in both colour and black & white.

What if it rains?

Go with the flow and embrace it. Your day will be just as much fun. Photo wise we still capture gorgeous images. We sometimes just need to be a little more flexible with certain locations to keep everyone comfortable and dry and keep your dress as clean as possible for as long as possible.

Our doggy will be there on the day. Can we include them in the pics?

100% yes. It’s becoming more and more popular for couples to have their dogs around for at least few hours on the day. Doggy pics are certainly included and add an extra touch of fun as everyone makes a fuss of them.
